JUNIOR RESEARCHER IN SOIL HEALTH AND ORGANIC FARMING SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENT
Our research programme, Above Innovation, supports and shares social, ecological and technological innovation in the organic sector in order to bring sustainability into the global food system and agricultural sector.
The Junior Researcher will contribute to the implementation of a farm sustainability performance evaluation and to the participatory design of soil analysis methodology.
The project will take place at Abovefarm Shanghai Office. The data collection for the research projects will take place mainly in China.
The timeframe for the research fieldwork is from March 2020 to August 2020 (6 months).
Conditions
Abovefarm supports in the form of:
• providing a letter of invitation for VISA and covering VISA costs (up to 200 euro) (for non-Chinese applicants)
• intake period (finding accommodation, bank account, introduction to project goals)
• flight costs (up to 500 euro) (for non-Chinese applicants)
• Salary: 6000 RMB per month for a 38-hour working week
• Transportation costs related with data collection.
We ask for
- a clear commitment to Abovefarm goals and values;
- Master or PhD degree with specialization in soil analysis;
- 2 years of work experience in the nonprofit sector or research (VISA requirement)
- background in organic agriculture;
- organizational skills (planning, budgeting, reporting)
- a good understanding of empirical social research methods;
- adaptability to live in rural areas;
- proficiency in English required;
- Mandarin fluency is not required but considered an advantage.
