By definition the bio-districts represent “an innovative approach for sustainable, integrated and participatory territorial development which builds around the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability”.
What we found while visiting the Bio-distretto Della Via Amerina can be summarized in a word: commitment. Environmental, social, political, economical commitment to this beautiful landscape and its products. Special thanks go to the farmers and to Famiano Crucianelli and Sandra Gasbarri for guiding and hosting us.
To date, there are 32 bio-districts running in Italy spread among 18 regions, and other 8 are in the process of being formed. Bio-districts and eco-regions are spreading all over the world!
